New RTD bus route explores Denver arts, cultural districts

The Regional Transportation District added a new bus line  to not only offer more public transit options, but to showcase some of Denver’s art and cultural districts in 2025.

RTD dubs the new bus route as the “Art District Connector,” serving the Baker, Five Points and Elyria-Swansea neighborhoods, offering connections to the Santa Fe Art District, Denver Theatre District and RiNo Arts District between the Alameda and 40th/Colorado rail stations.

“The new route provides a unique connection through the heart of downtown Denver and customers can journey across the angled downtown street grid that follows the curve of the South Platte River,” RTD officials said in a news release.

The ART District Connector, labeled “ART” on each bus, operates on 60-minute intervals. During its most recent customer review period, RTD officials said 94% of customers surveyed approved of the new ART bus line.

RTD announced the new line with new service time changes for faster intervals on certain lines.

As of Sunday, RTD added more than 200 combined weekly bus and rail revenue service hours. Other changes include increased frequencies of the E and H light rail lines, as well as service increases across 15 metro Denver bus routes and the relaunch of the AB2 route between Boulder and Denver International Airport, according to transportation officials.

RTD alters its schedule three times a year according to ridership changes, traffic patterns, maintenance and rider feedback.

“Some of the changes support on-time performance, increase service reliability and allow for necessary maintenance activities to be performed efficiently,” RTD officials said.

Exact service changes can be found on RTD’s website.
