Suspect arrested after allegedly shooting man multiple times in Aurora

The Aurora Police Department has arrested a man alleged to have shot another person multiple times, according to a news release from the department.

Patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 15300 block of 13th Avenue — near the Chambers Heights neighborhood in northeast Aurora — around 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers found a 34-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, the police said.

Investigators obtained video footage from a nearby security camera showing a suspect and his vehicle, a white Dodge Avenger. Police were able to connect the car to 24-year-old Tyler Robert Blazic.

Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police identified the vehicle near the scene of the shooting. Officers then attempted to stop the car, but Blazic continued driving, leading to a quick pursuit, in which officers immobilized the vehicle, the police said.

Blazic was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and menacing with a deadly weapon, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor eluding. A 9 mm handgun was also found in his vehicle, according to police.

Blazic was booked into the Aurora Detention Center.
