Greenwood Village Police respond to shooting near Dayton Station

DENVER — At least one person was hurt in a shooting in the parking lot of the Regional Transportation District Dayton station Tuesday afternoon, Greenwood Village police said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. Another victim has injuries from an apparent assault, according to a media release. Witnesses saw multiple unknown suspects run from the scene, police said.

The Denver Police Department and the Aurora Police Department assisted with the investigation. GVPD is asking people to help provide any information that may assist with the investigation by calling the tip line at 303-486-8275.

Cherry Creek High School, Campus Middle School and Belleview Elementary School were on secure perimeter Tuesday afternoon due to the police activity, according to Cherry Creek School District. Dismissal was held for Cherry Creek High School and Campus Middle School. Belleview Elementary School had already dismissed before the schools were put on secure perimeter. All students and staff are safe, the school district said.
