Loveland Tesla dealership vandalized; local police taps FBI, ATF for help
The Loveland Police Department, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is investigating an attempted arson and vandalism at a local Tesla dealership.
Officers learned that the attempted arson at 1606 N. Lincoln Ave. took place just after midnight, the police said.
After arriving, officers found multiple examples of “offensive” and “hateful” graffiti put on cars and the building. This is the third time in about two weeks that similar incidents took place, according to a release from the Loveland Police.
“However, these incidents were of lesser magnitude than today’s,” the police said. “As of this morning, we are working with our federal law enforcement partners from the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well.”
The ATF posted on X Friday evening that the Denver Field Division certified fire investigators are on scene.
Vehicles in Loveland appeared to have a red X spray painted across their windshields, while glass at the dealership building had the words “NAZI CARS” spray painted on it, according to news reports.
Loveland Police did not release any additional information.
The Tesla dealership also referred The Denver Gazette to Tesla’s Corporate media line, which did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
Police asked those who might have witnessed any “suspicious activity” to call the Loveland Police Tip Line at 970-962-2032 or the Larimer County Crime Stoppers at 970-221-6868.
