RTD will halt trains to Denver International Airport Saturday morning

Those planning on flying out of Denver International Airport Saturday morning for a President’s Day getaway should be aware of Regional Transportation District (RTD) A Line commuter rail closures.

RTD will be performing “necessary maintenance” on the A Line light rail train Saturday, halting the trains running between Denver Airport Station and Peoria Station. Regular A Line service will continue to operate between Denver Union Station and Peoria Station during the maintenance, according to a press release from RTD.

The disruption won’t last too long, though. The closure is set to begin at 2:30 a.m. and continue until the work is done around noon Saturday, according to the release.

The first train with continuous service to the Denver Airport Station is scheduled to depart Union Station around 11 a.m. Saturday. The first train with continuous service to Union Station is expected to depart Denver Airport Station at approximately 11:57 a.m.

A bus shuttle service will run commuters through the four affected stations during the closures, but the bus will not run on the exact same schedule as the A Line.

Bus pickup locations include:

  • Denver Airport Station: Arrivals at Gate 6; Departures at Gate 7
  • 61st•Peña Station: In front of the station
  • 40th Ave & Airport Boulevard•Gateway Park Station: Gate A
  • Peoria Station: Gate E

The scheduled work is set to “improve the commuter rail line’s overall reliability and safety,” RTD officials said in the release.
