Forest Service announces it is hiring up to 50 temporary wildland firefighters
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service is looking to hire up to 50 temporary wildland firefighters and fire support positions for the 2025 fire year.
The Forest Service said in a statement Monday that the Rocky Mountain Region is looking for temporary hires to work across national forests and grasslands in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.
Firefighter positions include engine operators, hotshot crew members, handcrew members, helitack crew members, fuels technicians, fire lookouts, dispatchers and other fire support positions.
Job information, including duty locations and application details, is available online on the Forest Service Careers webpage. Job seekers can apply for the firefighter and fire jobs through USAJobs.gov until Thursday.
The Forest Service said any U.S. citizen or national 18 years of age can apply. Hiring managers will use a Direct Hire Authority to hire applicants, which means Veterans’ Preference and traditional rating and ranking of applicants do not apply.
Application and resume preparation tips and guidelines, including step-by-step instructions and on-demand webinars, are available on the How to Apply webpage.
