RTD to host bus and rail career fair on Friday

The Regional Transportation District will host a career fair on Friday for those interested in joining the agency’s team.

RTD’s Bus and Rail Career Fair, held in an effort to hire more rail and bus operators — as well as people for maintenance, technical and supervisory roles — will take place from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the agency’s Platte Division, 3333 Ringsby Court in Denver, according to a news release from RTD.

Those who are hired as bus or rail operators will receive a $4,000 signing bonus, paid training and a wage starting at $25.96 per hour, according to the release. Qualified candidates need to have had a domestic driver’s license valid for at least two years.

The agency currently has a vacancy ratio of over 9%, and is in the market to hire about 85 bus operators, according to an RTD spokesperson. The agency generally holds one to two career fairs per year based on operational needs.

The agency will have on-site kiosks for people to use to apply for open positions, and RTD staff will be available to assist with the application process. Based on applications, certain candidates will be invited to a pre-hire session for bus and rail operators.
