Weekend things to do around Denver and beyond: Memorial Day Parade in Commerce City and more

Calling philatelists and fans for the 74th annual Denver Stamp Show, this year with a “Scenic Colorado” theme. The show draws vendors and collectors from all over the world. MONDAY

Commerce City is proud of its Memorial Day Parade and rightfully so. It’s the 59th year and it’s huge. More than 100 entries on the 1.5 mile parade route. So many things to see and cheer for: floats, marching units, antique cars. Before the parade at 8:45 a.m., an honor ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park. Parade kickoff is 9:30 a.m. and runs two hours. SATURDAY-SUNDAY

Visit with more than 100 artists in the Denver Arts Festival in the Central Park Neighborhood, Conservatory Green Plaza, on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10 a.m. Add to that music by Denver Concert Band, Pennies on the Track and Dotsero. That traditional summer entertainment chuckwagon dinner staple has a new way to open this year’s season Friday and Saturday. It’s a Flying W Ranch Chuckwagon Kickoff Rodeo at the Colorado Springs ranch, 3330 Chuckwagon Road, 5 p.m. both evenings. A busy season underway as visitors head up Pikes Peak and, starting Friday through Aug. 10, the Pikes Peak Highway Shuttles will now have daily schedules, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at different stops for ticketed riders. Guests park at Mile 7 to board shuttles with stops at Crystal Creek Reservoir, Glen Cove Inn, Devils Playground and the stunning Pikes Peak summit.
