Body found along I-25 near Larkspur exit ‘appears suspicious,’ police say

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office seeks help from the public and motorists after a woman’s body was found along southbound Interstate 25 near the Larkspur exit on Sunday.

The woman’s body was found early Sunday, roughly a half mile north of Exit 173 near Larkspur, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities are asking for anyone driving along I-25 through Larkspur on either May 24 or May 25 to report if they saw anything, or might have dashcam footage. The body was found along the interstate between Denver and Colorado Springs.

Authorities said the body is an adult woman with brown or black hair, adding she was found wearing grey leggings and a black long-sleeve shirt.

“Investigators recovered distinctive bedding at the scene and are hopeful that someone may recognize it,” sheriff’s officials said.

“Vehicles with cameras that captured activity along southbound I-25 near Exit 173 during those dates may have critical information, even if it doesn’t seem immediately relevant,” sheriff’s office officials said.

The body’s discovery “does appear to be suspicious,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson told The Denver Gazette on Monday.

“Detectives worked all day Sunday and are back at it this morning,” the spokesperson said.

The sheriff’s spokesperson noted the death doesn’t appear connected to the ongoing Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur, which began on Saturday and runs weekends through Aug. 3, 2025.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867). Tips can be submitted anonymously, and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
