Colorado Bike to Work Day 2025: How to get involved

Metro Denver area motorists should be on the lookout for more bicycles on the road Wednesday — unless they want to ditch the car and join the bicyclists.

Wednesday is Bike to Work Day.

The annual free event encourages commuters around the state to switch from their typical method of transportation to a bike for the day.

Organized by Way to Go, a program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments, the day is meant to help people save money, improve health, lower stress levels, reduce traffic levels and improve air quality.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the number of Bike to Work Day participants has risen steadily since 1995 and is expected to continue this year.

CDOT will host several Bike to Work Stations throughout the state with refreshments, bike maps, educational materials and prizes.

Participating locations can be found on CDOT’s website.

This year, a total of 232 rest stations will be set up along bike routes across the state.

A map of the stations can be found on the DRCOG website, along with participating businesses that are advertising specials for the day.

BASECAMP Market Station in Denver’s LoDo neighborhood will welcome riders from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Wednesday with a lineup of music, shopping vendors, activities and food. The first 150 attendees can enjoy a free cold brew coffee, and the first 200 attendees will be able to snag free breakfast burritos.

Held in partnership with Denver’s Fireside at Five, the event will feature a Khruangbin-inspired live music set by Denver band Namebackwards, and a free screen-printing station for the first 50 attendees.

Participants in Bike to Work Day can also sign up for a group ride, beginning at 4:30 p.m. next to the Platte River Trail behind REI Denver at 1416 Platte St.

The ride will end at The Empourium  Brewing Company at 4385 West 42nd Ave.

To register for Bike to Work Day or to find out more about local events, riders can go to DRCOG’s website and pledge to ride.
