Former El Noa Noa restaurant catches fire

The building that once housed one of Denver’s most iconic Mexican restaurants caught fire, according to the Denver Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a commercial structure fire at 7th and Santa Fe on Friday afternoon, and the crews reported smoke from the roof, the department said in a post on X.

Fire authorities did not identify the restaurant by name, but photos shared by the department showed it’s the building that once was the home of El Noa Noa. Just one week ago, the site reopened as the El Chingon Bistro.

The Mexican restaurant officially shuttered on April 1. The owners had earlier stated that the restaurant did not recover from the financial toll of the COVID-19 pandemic.
