A Weld County grand jury indicted a 20-year-old man Tuesday in connection to the murder of a 19-year-old man in 2021.
The jury found enough evidence to charge Moises Rodriguez-Nunez with first-degree murder in the Oct. 9, 2021 death of Jacob Fooshee in Greeley, according to a news release from the 19th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Rodriguez-Nunez was arrested by the Greeley Police Department after the indictment Tuesday evening and appeared in court Wednesday for an advisement hearing with District Court Judge Marcello Kopcow.
Fooshee was reported missing on Oct. 10, 2021 after being seen last around 3 p.m. the day before driving a red Mercedes sedan.
Around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 11, Greeley officers responded to a medical assistance call in the 100 block of 30th Avenue and found Foushee dead inside the sedan from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office ruled the shooting a homicide, but the indictment of a suspect didn’t come for nearly four years.
Investigators found that phone records showed Fooshee was last in contact with Rodriguez-Nunez on the day he went missing and locations confirmed both were at the scene around the same time.
Rodriguez-Nunez’s phone later left the area, while Fooshee’s phone never connected to another cell tower, according to the release.
Rodriguez-Nunez will appear again in court on Aug. 28. He is currently being held in the Weld County Jail without bond.
