Remains of hiker found in Saguache County 2 years later

The remains of a hiker have been found in Saguache County, ending a two-year-long search for the 55-year-old woman.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation identified the hiker as Edna Quintana, who went missing on May 3, 2023, Friday. Her remains were found in a remote area of the county by a hiker on June 17, according to the agency.

Officials believe Quintana went missing while rock hunting on County Road 46AA in Saguache. Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

Quintana’s family reported her missing three days after she became unreachable and didn’t return home in 2023. At the time of her disappearance, she reportedly had medical issues.

Public records indicate Quintana lived in Rio Grande County.

Anyone with more information regarding Quintana’s disappearance or death is encouraged to contact the Saguache County Sheriff’s Office at 719-655-2525.
