Woman dead in house fire near Longmont
Firefighters found a woman deceased inside of a house fire near Longmont Friday morning.
Mountain View Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire near the intersection of Weld County Road 7 and Colorado Highway 119 — just east of Longmont — around 3:30 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the department.
Firefighters battled the fire for around 20 minutes before being able to enter the building, but the fire lasted several more hours until it was fully extinguished, the department said.
Six people were evacuated from the home, with one being taken to a nearby hospital with burn injuries. The other five were evaluated on the scene and deemed OK.
In an update around 8 a.m., the fire department said it found a woman deceased inside of the home following additional searches. The identity of the woman will later be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office following investigations.
“Investigators are on scene right now trying to determine how the fire started,” the department said.
