Colorado Mesa pitcher Andrew Pogue signs with Detroit Tigers | Colorado Sunshine

Where good news shines

Colorado Mesa pitcher Andrew Pogue this week signed a contract with the Detroit Tigers.

Pogue finished his lone season with the Mavericks with a 3-1 record with one save. The Peoria, Ill., native pitched 34 innings and allowed 28 hits, 18 walks and had 35 strikeouts.

He routinely flashed an upper-90s fastball along with a low-90s slider while developing a curve ball and change-up. The graduate student had private workouts for a total of five organizations.

Previously an undrafted free agent, Pogue will join another former Maverick, Bligh Madris, in the Tigers organization.
