Colorado State Patrol conducts aerial operation to combat ‘Reckless Riders’ motorcyclists
Colorado State Patrol partnered with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a traffic enforcement operation targeting reckless motorcycle driving behavior on Saturday.
According to CSP more than 45 vehicles, including 25 motorcycles, were contacted during the operation with the assistance of the patrol’s Aircraft Unit.
Eleven of 45 were contacted for driving 20 mph or more over the speed limit. Thirteen out of the total 45 vehicles did not have license plates.
The Colorado State Patrol aerial unit tracks a motorcycle rider who appeared to flee a trooper at speeds of more than 120 mph on C-470 Saturday. He was arrested on felony eluding charges.

CSP troopers said three drivers were pulled over due to reckless driving, and one motorcycle rider was taken into custody for felony eluding.
However, troopers on the ground did not pursue the motorcycle rider involved in the incident due to what they deemed a “significant public safety risk.”
The motorcycle rider involved was seen traveling at speeds of 120 mph on C-470, weaving in-and-out through multiple lanes of traffic, using the right shoulder to pass vehicles.
CSP’s aircraft maintained view of the motorcyclist and tracked him down to a business in Golden where he parked. There, troopers and deputies took the rider into custody.
CSP is encouraging all drivers and riders to avoid making decisions that could escalate a traffic stop into a more serious incident.
“Running from law enforcement not only endangers others but can also result in severe legal consequences,” according to a news release.
