Denver Nuggets sign veteran Tim Hardaway Jr. from Detroit
The Nuggets addressed another need with one of their final roster spots.
Prior to free agency, Denver’s executive vice presidents Ben Tenzer and Jon Wallace placed a premium on shooting — and that’s what veteran wing Tim Hardaway Jr. brings to the franchise after, according to an ESPN report, agreeing to a one-year deal in Denver on Tuesday afternoon.
Hardaway spent last season in Detroit and helped the Pistons return to the playoffs. He averaged 11 points across 77 regular-season games and shot a respectable 37% from 3-point range. He averaged 12 points per game in Detroit’s six playoff games.
Prior to Detroit, Hardaway played alongside Luka Doncic in Dallas for a handful of seasons, with previous stops with the Knicks, where he started his career, and the Hawks. He’s finished top 10 in Sixth Man of the Year voting three different times in his career, with the most recent coming with Dallas in the 2023-24 season.
The 33-year-old is the son of Tim Hardaway, who played 14 games with the Nuggets in 2001-02.
Hardaway’s signing leaves the Nuggets with one open standard roster spot.
