Denver restaurant and bar closing after 18 years

A downtown Denver restaurant and bar is closing its doors after 18 years in business.

Cap City Tavern announced it will permanently close on Sunday.

The restaurant’s owners cited the rise in minimum wage, cost of food, and Denver taxes and fees as the reasons for its closure.

The restaurant said its final day of operation will be Sunday, and it will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Sunday.

“Hi friends, family, chosen family, and supporters of Cap City Tavern. It is with a heavy heart that we share we are closing our doors permanently on Sunday, July 27, after over 18 years of business,” the restaurant shared on social media.
