Man dies in hospital Monday night after he was found floating in Boulder Creek on July 4th

A man died in the hospital Monday night after emergency responders found him floating and unresponsive in Boulder Creek on July 4.

Just before 2:30 p.m., Friday Boulder Fire-Rescue and Boulder Police received a call about the man floating in the creek in the area between 55th and 63rd Street, according to a news release from the City of Boulder.

First responders found the man about 20 minutes later, retrieving him from the creek underpass at 61st Street, according to the release. They immediately administered CPR before an ambulance took him to Boulder Community Hospital 10 minutes later.

Boulder Police are currently investigating the incident but do not suspect foul play at this time and believe there is no current risk to the public, according to the release.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office will determine the man’s cause and manner of death as well as identify him, pending notification of family and performing an autopsy.
