Texas man arrested in connection to body found along I-25 near Larkspur
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with investigators in Austin, Texas in the arrest of a man allegedly connected to the dead body of a woman found along Interstate 25 near Larkspur last month.
The Douglas County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased woman as Brenda Jackson, 65, of Austin, according to a Thursday news release.
Daniel Strong Jr., 73, also of Austin, was arrested and faces charges of tampering with a dead body. Labeled as a “person of interest” in the homicide, he now in custody in Travis County, Texas.
The Austin Police Department officers made the arrest.
It is unclear what led to the death of Jackson, who was left alongside southbound Interstate 25 a half mile north of Exit 173 going into Larkspur, according to the investigators.
Jackson was found wearing grey leggings and a black long-sleeve shirt.
Upon her discovery, authorities asked motorists to review dashcam footage. Again, Douglas County sheriff’s and Austin authorities ask for the public’s help to “fill in the gaps,” according to Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly.
That includes anyone who may have interacted with Jackson or Strong Jr. prior to May 24 or any surveillance footage related to them or their vehicle.
The vehicle believed to be involved is a dark gray Honda Odyssey van with a Texas handicap license plate: 1SGSC.
