Westminster Police find body in open space

Westminster Police say they found a body in a Westminster open space on Thursday morning, close to an area where possible human remains were found last week.

Just before 9 a.m. Thursday, detectives found a body and personal belongings in the open space near 122nd Avenue and Park Centre Drive, according to an Westminster Police Department post on X.

The discovery comes after a resident reported finding what appeared to be a human bone in the area while walking along the nearby trail on July 18.

Authorities, including forensic officers and a cadaver dog from the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, continued to search the area on Thursday.

Officials said the body appears to have been in the area for an extended time.

The identity of the deceased is unknown. Once the person is identified, the Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the information.

“We understand incidents like this can cause concern in the community, and we will continue to share updates as more information becomes available,” the police said.
