Colorado Parks and Wildlife has recovered an adult man and dog from Eleven Mile State Park late Friday evening.
According to a press release from CPW, a group of three people and a dog were paddleboarding at around 1 p.m. A windstorm blew through the park and swept the group into the water.
One person who was wearing a life jacket swam to shore, and CPW rangers rescued the second person who was tethered to the paddleboard and also wearing a life jacket.
CPW’s Marine Evidence Recovery Team recovered the third person just before midnight after an 11-hour search.
The Park County Coroner will release the victim’s identity.
CPW encourages water recreationists to wear life jackets while boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming, as weather conditions can change quickly.
