Dre Greenlaw remains sidelined for team work at practice | Broncos training camp Day 10
ENGLEWOOD — A behind-the-scenes look at Broncos training camp practice Tuesday with observations and analysis from The Denver Gazette.
Play of the day
Wide receiver Michael Bandy made an impressive toe-tap reception in the end zone for a touchdown. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw the pass during an 11-on-11 drill. Bandy last appeared in the NFL game during the 2023 season with the Broncos. He’s spent most of his time with the club on their practice squad, although he has a strong rapport with all three quarterbacks on the roster.
Position battle
Wide receiver: Troy Franklin’s strong training camp continues. He snagged a diving catch during a 2-minute drill from quarterback Bo Nix that would have set up a potential game-winning field goal. Franklin is working his way into the conversation as the starting slot receiver instead of Marvin Mims. But we’ll learn a lot more once preseason games are played. Is the Franklin hype real?

Stock rising
CB Kris Abrams-Draine: The second-year cornerback logged an impressive pass breakup in the end zone on a throw by backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Abrams-Draine — a fifth-round pick in 2024 out of Missouri — has flashed strong ball skills throughout training camp. He played on 35% of all defensive snaps last year as one of the first depth cornerbacks behind starters Riley Moss and Pat Surtain. He’s making the case for more game reps in 2025, especially if Denver has injuries in the secondary.
Stock falling
ILB Dre Greenlaw: The injured NFL veteran ran out of the locker room in full pads after he “tweaked” a quadriceps muscle last Thursday. Coach Sean Payton expected Greenlaw to return to practice this week. But the inside linebacker practiced on the side field Tuesday during team drills. It’s possible Greenlaw is on track to be a full participant for the upcoming joint practice at the 49ers. Denver will be careful not to reinjure one of their most important additions on defense. But he still needs reps to build chemistry with new teammates in a new defense.

Attendance check
Running back J.K. Dobbins did not practice while taking a “vet day,” according to offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. Wide receiver Trent Sherfield watched practice wearing sweats.
Injury report
Rookie outside linebacker Que Robinson returned to practice in full pads after previously missing time with a bone bruise. But he practiced on the side field. Inside linebackers Alex Singleton and Greenlaw were in attendance, but they also did not join in 11-on-11. Wide receiver A.T. Perry remains out on the physically unable to perform list (PUP).
