Man fatally struck while attempting to cross I-225, Aurora police say
A 62-year-old man was struck and killed while attempting to cross northbound Interstate 225 on Saturday night, according to the Aurora Police Department.
At 11:15 p.m., Aurora police responded to the crash along the northbound lanes of I-225 just south of East Iliff Avenue, police said in a Sunday morning news release.
Authorities said the man was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
The man attempted to cross northbound I-225 from east to west in heavy traffic, before he was struck by one driver and ran over by another, according to police.
Police said the two drivers remained on-scene and cooperated with authorities, who don’t suspect that intoxication or speed contributed to the crash.
All northbound I-225 lanes up to Parker Road closed for two hours following the crash.
