A fatal Monday morning crash shut down Colorado’s Highway 9 between Silverthorne and Kremmling in the area of Mile Marker 136, which is just south of the latter town.
According to a report from Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred at about 7:17 a.m., involving a Ford F-150 truck and an unknown SUV. The driver of the F-150 was a male – the single occupant of that vehicle. After the crash, he was transported from the scene for medical care via helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, all of those in the SUV were determined to be deceased, though the number of occupants remained unknown per a report released about three hours after the crash due to the vehicle’s extensive damage and a fire.
Per the Monday morning report, no information related to who may have been at-fault was released. Travelers were, however, told to expect an extended closure. As of 11:45 a.m., the road remained closed in both directions from about 8 miles north of Silverthorne to about two miles south of Kremmling, including the stretch of road that provides access to Green Mountain Reservoir.
The investigation into the crash is underway.
