Greeley woman killed in crash with public transit bus
Editor’s note: The Weld County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 59-year-old Marilyn Marie Salzman.
Greeley police are investigating a crash in which a woman died after colliding with a public transit bus.
Officers responded to a crash in the area of 71st Avenue and 4th Street around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to a social media post by the Greeley Police Department. The crash involved a sedan and a Greeley-Evans bus — which provides transportation within the two cities.
The driver of the sedan, and 18-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 59-year-old woman, were taken to a nearby hospital where the 59 year old later died from her injuries.
The driver was treated for minor injuries and later released from the hospital.
“Due to the nature of injuries sustained in the accident, the Greeley Police Department Traffic Unit is leading the investigation,” police said, but did not note any factors that may have led to the crash.
The bus driver and a single passenger were not injured in the incident.
The identity of the woman will be released by the Weld County Coroner following next-of-kin notifications.
