Body discovered after distinctive bike found in Aspen

A body found near a bike path in a Colorado mountain town on Monday morning has been identified as a man who has been missing since Friday.

Alan Roberts, 56, was found dead near a bike path in Aspen at about 10:30 AM on Monday, according to the Aspen Police Department.

Officials say an individual who saw a bike that closely resembled Roberts’ distinctive “John Deere” bike near the path lead them to the discovery of the body.

Friends and family became concerned after Roberts had not been seen or heard from since leaving his home on his bike from the north side of Aspen. It is believed he left sometime between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM on Friday.

The cause and manner of death are pending investigation by the Pitkin County Coroner’s Office. However, police say there are “no suspicious circumstances.”

Condolences go out to the family and friends of the Alan Roberts during this difficult time.
