Arapahoe Basin Ski Area starts making snow
Arapahoe Basin Ski Area started making snow on Monday.
The Summit County resort has not announced an opening date, but it is shooting for mid-October.
The resort often battles Loveland Ski Area to be the first in the state to open. Its earliest opening is Oct. 9.
Last year, Arapahoe Basin became the first ski resort in North America to open for the season, on Oct. 11, beating out Keystone
Arapahoe Basin, just west of the Continental Divide, has 125 snow-making acres and averages 350 inches of snow each year.
