Author and sociologist to speak about the women’s movement in Denver
Women voters are the focus of a talk Wednesday night by author and sociologist Dana R. Fisher and Ian Silverii, the executive director of the state’s largest liberal advocacy group, ProgressNow Colorado.
The event will be held at the Tattered Cover on Colfax Avenue in Denver from 6-8:30 p.m.
Fisher is the author of the new book “American Resistance: From The Women’s March to the Blue Wave.”
“Dana Fisher has written the comprehensive guide to the resistance: the backlash to the 2016 elections, the blue wave of 2018, and the enthusiasm leading to 2020,” Silverii tells Colorado Politics. “But progressives must beware, our efforts will come to nothing if we don’t redouble our efforts to defeat Trump and his enablers from Denver to D.C. this November, because the right wing isn’t going down without a fight.
“Join us for a conversation and Q&A on her findings on the effectiveness of the resistance’s efforts, and the gaps we must fill if we’re going to win in 2020.”
Fisher teaches sociology and serves as the director of the Program for Society and the Environment at the University of Maryland.
The event is free and open to the public.
