Denver Nuggets’ 2024-25 schedule release: 10 games to watch
The NBA released the complete regular-season schedules for all 30 teams Thursday.
Denver’s features 22 games on national television. The Nuggets have 16 back-to-back sets, up from 13 last season. The team’s longest homestands are five-game stretches in November and March. Denver also has five-game road trips in December and January.
Here are 10 games to watch:
Oct. 24 vs. Thunder
The NBA season starts Oct. 22, but Nuggets fans will have to wait a couple of days for their team to debut in Denver. The first game of the season is a big one between the Western Conference’s top two seeds from last season. Oklahoma City earned the No. 1 seed thanks to a 3-1 record against the Nuggets last regular season. It’s an 8 p.m. local tipoff broadcast on TNT.
Nov. 1 at Timberwolves
Denver doesn’t have to wait long for a rematch of last year’s second-round series. The trip to Minnesota is the Nuggets’ fifth game and caps Denver’s first road trip of the season. After leading by 20 in the third quarter of Game 7, Denver failed to close out Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves. Edwards has since added a gold medal to his resume. ESPN is broadcasting the 8:30 local tipoff.
Dec. 3 vs. Warriors
The in-season tournament, now known as the NBA Cup, is back for its second season. After starting group play with road games against the Pelicans (Nov. 15) and Grizzlies (Nov. 19), the Nuggets return to Denver for games against the Mavericks (Nov. 22) and Warriors. The Nuggets probably need to win at least three of those to make the quarterfinals. The 8 p.m. game will be shown on TNT.
Dec. 25 at Suns
After playing at home the last two Christmases, Denver’s headed to the desert this year. The Nuggets have won each of their last two Christmas Day games, including an overtime win over the Suns in 2022. The 8:30 p.m. tip on ESPN caps the league’s five-game holiday slate.
Jan. 7 vs. Celtics
Denver swept the series last season, but Boston went on to win the title. The Nuggets host the first matchup of the last two champions. The game also serves as a homecoming for Parker native Derrick White, who’s added a championship ring and gold medal since his last game at Ball Arena. It’s another national TV game with TNT carrying the 8 p.m. start.
Jan. 21 vs. 76ers
The NBA has once again pitted Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets against Joel Embiid’s 76ers as part of “Rivalry Week.” After facing off a few times in the Olympics, the league’s best two big men are featured in an 8 p.m. contest on TNT to cap the first day of the week-long event. Denver’s game at Minnesota is also part of the promotion. Philadelphia doesn’t play the day before or after the game, so Embiid should play in Denver for the first time since 2019 — if he’s healthy.
Feb. 6 vs. Magic
It will be interesting to see the reception Kentavious Caldwell-Pope receives in his return to Denver. The veteran shooting guard was a key piece of Denver’s championship run but opted to join an up-and-coming Orlando squad as a free agent this summer. It’s a 7 p.m. start on Altitude TV.
March 14 vs. Lakers
LeBron James will be 40 when time this game rolls around, and it’s worth wondering whether this could be King James’ final game in Denver. Either way, the 7:30 p.m. game on NBA TV will be the final meeting between the two teams that have met in each of the last two postseasons. The game could very well serve as a preview of another postseason clash.
April 2 vs. Spurs
The first two meetings between Jokic, the reigning Most Valuable Player, and Victor Wembanyama, last season’s Rookie of the Year, are a back-to-back, with travel, in January. After playing in Denver on Jan. 3, the two teams meet the next night in San Antonio, making it a prime opportunity for teams to rest their stars. Denver hosts Minnesota the night before the third game against the Spurs, but there’s no travel involved, making the 7 p.m. Altitude broadcast the best chance to see Jokic and Wembanyama square off.
April 13 at Rockets
Don’t be surprised if it’s another tight finish at the top of the Western Conference. After the top three seeds were separated by one game last year, Denver’s season finale against a hungry Houston team looking to take the next step in its rebuild could affect playoff seeding. All Western Conference games will start at 2:30 p.m. on the final day of the regular season. The play-in tournament starts April 15 with the first round of the playoffs starting April 19.
